YMCA REOPENING UPDATE

Updated: May 16

Thank you for sticking with us during these uncertain times. Your support does, and will continue to, make a difference to those in our community whom we serve. Without our loyal members, we would not be able to continue serving the Minot community and surrounding areas just as we have for the past 76 years.

We are excited to get everyone back into the Y as soon as possible and have been diligently working on a reopening plan since the guidelines were released earlier this week. These guidelines require us to release training protocol for over 150 full and part-time staff regarding new policies, area capacities & closures, cleaning & disinfecting procedures, and more. This means that our facility will be open, but not running at full capacity due to the restrictions in place for us.

Nevertheless, we are thrilled to open our doors to the community once again. Please read the following carefully as some of our policies have changed:

• Following the guidelines set in place by the state of North Dakota and the CDC, we plan on opening in phases as we reinstate and train our team. We will continue a rigorous cleaning schedule every day and are adding additional staff and sanitation stations as needed.

The Y will have new hours with age restrictions effective immediately:

Monday-Friday 5AM-10PM

  • 5AM-8AM: Ages 17+ only

  • 8AM-10AM: Ages 60+ and high-risk individuals such as cancer rehab participants and Parkinson’s patients only.

  • 10-3PM: Ages 17+ only. From 2-3PM we will be closing sub-areas of the facility to perform deep cleaning in 15-minute increments.

  • 3-10PM: All Ages (Age policies in Training Center still apply)

Saturday & Sunday 6AM-7PM

  • 6AM-8AM: Ages 17+ only

  • 8AM-10AM: Ages 60+ and high-risk individuals such as cancer rehab participants and Parkinson’s patients only.

  • 10-3PM: Ages 17+ only. From 2-3PM we will be closing sub-areas of the facility to perform deep cleaning in 15-minute increments.

  • 3-7PM: All Ages (Age policies in Training Center still apply)

• The first phase of reopening will begin on Wednesday, May 6th, 2020 with the following limitations:

  • Only members will be allowed in the facility. No guest passes will be issued.

  • Masks are recommended for all members and staff, however not required.

  • Members must perform a self-verification of health in accordance to symptoms before entering the facility.

  • Members will scan and enter facility as normal but exit through the community room to comply with social distancing standards.

  • Each area of the Y will have a limited capacity as enforced by the Y staff.

  • We encourage members to download the Care19 App to assist with disease tracking efforts.

  • There will be no water fountains available for use. Please bring water from home.

  • There will be no sweat towel service available. We encourage you to bring your own.

  • The Training Center will have some equipment blocked off to ensure social distancing on cardio and weight machines.

  • Basketball gyms have a capacity of 25 people or 4-5 people per hoop. No pickup games will be allowed at this time.

  • Racquetball courts have a capacity of 2 people per court.

  • The Community Room and coffee services will remain closed until further notice as recommended by the state and public health officials.

  • The locker rooms and amenities inside will remain closed until further notice as recommended by the state and public health officials. If you are wanting to get items out of your locker, a staff person will be available to escort you.

  • All May programming is suspended, including pick-up basketball games such as noon ball. Programming will resume in June unless otherwise recommended by state and public health officials. Announcements regarding day camps, resident camps, and Summer Unplugged will be made at a later date.

  • North Plains CrossFit through Trinity Health will remain closed until announced by Trinity to allow for all procedures and policies to be put in place.

  • Outdoor areas such as our fitness park, playground, and picnic shelter will continue to be open to the public.

• We will continue to draft memberships on May 1st, 2020.

  • If you have applied for credits, you will see your credit already applied on your May draft date.

  • If you put your membership on hold, your account will be automatically reinstated and charged the pro-rated amount on May 6th, 2020.

  • If you cancelled your membership, you have 30 days from your cancellation date to reinstate your membership to avoid the enrollment fee.

For those who have lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic, you may apply for financial assistance through our Membership For All Program to ensure that you can continue in your efforts to stay healthy in spirit, mind, and body.

As always, we want to thank you for your patience and support as we navigate through these uncharted waters. We are extremely grateful for each one of you and can’t wait to see you back in our facility once again! Please continue to stay up to date by following us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, downloading our Daxko App, visiting our website, and our newest form of communication, opting in to text messages.
