SPORT COURTS

Racquetball

Did you know that Racquetball was invented at the Y? One of the many sports invented here, Racquetball is an indoor sport that can be played in a singles or doubles format. At the Y, we value healthy living and encourage our members to stay active while having fun. With this sport, you can do both.

Handball

This single or team sport helps to develop hand-eye coordination, improves flexibility, and can help increase cardio and upper-body muscular strength! If you’re interested in trying a new sport and refining your handball skills, check out our courts and games

Wallyball

This is an exciting and fast paced game that all ages can enjoy. The game is played similar to volleyball but played in racquetball courts. Come be a part of the fun by playing Wallyball.

Sport Courts

Our YMCA has 3 indoor sport courts and 1 outdoor court. These are used for a variety of different sports including racquetball, handball, wallyball, and more!

Reservations

To reserve one of the 3 indoor courts, you may visit or contact the service desk at 701-852-0141. Reservations are not needed for the outdoor court as it is open to the public.

Each reservation is an hour long and may not be reserved under the same name back-to-back.

We recommend making reservations a minimum of 72 hours in advance to ensure court reservation; however as long as a court is open, you may reserve the court at the front desk. We require a 2 hour cancellation notice in advance.

In the case that a reserved court is not claimed within the first 15 minutes of the reservation, the reservation will be cancelled and will be considered open.

Racquetball

Our YMCA Racquetball program includes both leagues and open court opportunities to play with friends. If you’re looking for a great way to build endurance and rally some friendly competition, racquetball is for you.

The game is similar to Squash in that opponents try to hit the ball against the front wall of the court, after allowing it to bounce once on the floor. Whoever cannot return the bounced ball with the use of their racquet loses the rally.

At typical match features 15 points, with the best two or three matches winning the game. The tie-breaker game is usually played to 11 points. A special tennis-like, rubber ball is used in the game as it bounces well on the walls and floor of the court.

Racquets and balls are available to borrow at the Service Desk.

Handball

The YMCA offers handball as an close alternative to racquetball. Instead of using racquets to strike the small rubber ball, the players use their hands. 2, 3 or 4 players play by hitting the ball against a wall in a way that when it bounces back the opponent player cannot return it.

Handballs are available to borrow at the Service Desk. Handball gloves are available for purchase.

Wallyball

This awesome sport adds a whole new dimension to the exciting game of Volleyball. The general concepts of wallyball are very similar to indoor volleyball. Played in a sport court, wallyball provides the element of surprise as an ordinary volley can go a whole new direction with spiking the ball off the walls.

We require at least a 24 hour notice when reserving a court for wallyball. This allows for proper communication with our maintenance team so the net is set up before your reserved time period.

Sport Court Policies

  • Must be at least 14 to reserve a court. Ages 9 to 13 may use the courts if available without reserving.

  • 72 hour court reservation and 2 hour cancellation notice

  • An individual may only reserve one court per day
